GPO Poll: New Democracy leads by 12.4 points, Mitsotakis by 17.4 – Cost of living is the biggest problem

Rise for PASOK and Greek Solution in September, 3.9-point increase in undecided voters compared to last June, now reaching 16.2% of the electorate – Potential vote for a “Tsipras party” at 19.4%

The GPO poll presented on STAR’s main news bulletin shows New Democracy (ND) leading PASOK by 12.4 points. In terms of voting intention (the company did not provide an official vote estimate in this survey), ND gathers 24.7%, a drop of one point compared to the previous survey conducted in June for STAR, but at the same level as measured by the same company on September 13, after the measures announced by the Prime Minister at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).

PASOK stands at 12.3% (up from 11.2% on September 13), while Greek Solution rises to third place with 9.8%. Course of Freedom drops 4.5 points, tying for fourth place with the Communist Party (KKE) at 7.9%. SYRIZA follows with 5.2%. Voice of Reason rises to 2.8% and NIKI to 2.3%. The Democracy Movement is at 2.1%, MeRA25 at 2%, and New Left at 1.5%. Undecided voters reach 16.2%, up nearly 3.9% since June.

Mitsotakis with a Large Lead

Kyriakos Mitsotakis is considered the most suitable prime minister with 27.8%, followed by Nikos Androulakis at 10.4%. Kyriakos Velopoulos rises to third with 8.8%, and Zoe Konstantopoulou falls to fourth at 8.6%. Fifth place goes to Dimitris Koutsoumbas with 4.8%, followed by Socratis Famellos, Afroditi Latinopoulou, Stefanos Kasselakis, Alexis Charitsis, and Dimitris Natsios.

A majority of 51.2% agree or mostly agree with PASOK’s call for immediate elections.

Also, 50.2% prefer that the elections result in a coalition government. Regarding which party should lead such a coalition, 30.7% choose ND, while 29.2% choose PASOK.

If Alexis Tsipras creates a new party, 19.4% of respondents say they would likely vote for it. Of these, 8.7% say it is very likely, and 10.7% fairly likely. Conversely, 79.2% say it is unlikely or very unlikely that they would vote for it.

Biggest Problem: Cost of Living

57.8% of citizens consider high costs and low incomes the most important issue, followed by corruption at 14.5%. Moreover, 55.6% say their disposable income is insufficient to cover monthly needs, while 66.8% believe that corruption in Greece has increased under ND governments. Regarding the tax relief measures announced by the Prime Minister at TIF and whether they will improve citizens’ incomes, 67.5% respond “no” or “probably not,” compared to 31.1% who respond “yes” or “probably yes.”
