“The time has come for Europe to mobilise European resources to support common European defence projects such as, for example, anti-missile protection or such as a wall of defence against penetration by drones, one of the projects proposed by the European Commission and which are expected to be discussed today,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, speaking at the informal EU summit in Copenhagen.
However, the Greek prime minister called for common European projects not to be restricted only in the east, but also more widely, noting that the southern border should be covered.
“Any common European defence project concerning Europe cannot be limited only to the eastern borders of the continent. It must look at the security of Europe as a whole. Obviously, the south-eastern border must be covered, but also the southern border, so that Europe is shielded against any future threat.”
