Authorities are trying to shed light on the cause of death of 53-year-old Thanasis Neochoritis, who was trapped for hours inside a cave in Gonnoi, Larissa.
According to reports, the forensic examination did not determine the cause of death even though the deceased had broken ribs and a ruptured spleen. Answers are expected to be shed by the toxicological tests to be conducted, as it is being investigated whether there was a machine inside the makeshift tunnel that was causing fumes.
His co-relatives in Pteleo say they knew him but did not know that he had recently been searching for fires in the Gonnoi area.
At the same time, the 77-year-old man who has been arrested for violating the law on the protection of antiquities was taken to the investigator. The funeral of the 53-year-old will be held tomorrow from the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Pteleos, Magnesia.
