Minor found injured and intoxicated on a bench in Chania – Her mother arrested

The minor is hospitalized at Chania General Hospital – She claimed her injuries were caused by a fall down the stairs

A 15-year-old girl was found injured and intoxicated early Monday morning on a bench in the Peace and Friendship Park in Chania, Crete, prompting an emergency police response.

According to flashnews.gr, the teenager was spotted lying down by a passerby shortly after 1:30 a.m., who immediately alerted the police.

A rapid response police unit arrived at the scene and found the girl lying on the bench with head injuries. Other individuals were present as well, claiming to be friends of the girl.

The girl admitted to having consumed alcohol, and said her head injuries were the result of a fall down the stairs.

An ambulance from EKAV (National Emergency Aid Centre) was dispatched, transporting the 15-year-old to Chania General Hospital, where she remains hospitalized. Her condition is not considered life-threatening.

Following the incident, the girl’s 41-year-old mother, a Romanian national, was arrested.
