An incident involving the assault of an on-duty police officer by civilians occurred in Thessaloniki, in the Lagkadas municipality area.

According to Thesspost, the episode took place on Thursday morning, when a couple driving their car within the city zone of Lagkadas got stuck behind a police patrol car trying to exit the parking area of the local police station.

The brief delay apparently infuriated the couple, who first confronted the officer and then went so far as to physically attack him in the middle of the street.

The police officer was injured and had to be transported to a hospital by an EKAV ambulance. The couple was arrested on the spot under the flagrante delicto (in the act) procedure and taken into custody.
