“The farmers should come in an organized manner, with specific representatives and specific demands, and we are here to do the best we can,” he said.
He noted, however, that protests must take into account the needs of society as a whole.
Using a travel metaphor — which he described as timely — the prime minister said that “today, the ship of our country is sailing safely, but in rough waters.” Greece today, he added, is a much better country than the one the government inherited in 2019, emphasizing that he listens to the public’s messages and is therefore moving ahead with targeted measures.
“The New Democracy party is the party of the family,” he stressed, explaining that the family is the core of society. “For the first time, we are significantly reducing taxes based on the number of children each family has. We are supporting families in a tangible way,” he said.
Regarding young people, Mr. Mitsotakis referred to the elimination of income tax starting January 1, 2026. “We are doing something pioneering in Europe,” he noted.
He also reminded that within two years the personal difference (the pension-related adjustment) will be abolished — a demand he said he consistently heard during his tours in local communities.
