An incident between the until recently president of the National Public Health Organization, Christos Chatzichristodoulou, and an employee of the organization appears to be behind the resignation of the board of directors of the National Public Health Organization, Health Minister Adonis Georgiades said Monday morning.
“There has been a difficult story there. Indeed there is a resignation not for reasons of disagreement, we had it out a month ago. There was an incident between the chairman and an employee, they have mutually accused each other. He could not continue his presence at EODY under these circumstances, they will settle it in court, I don’t want to get more involved in this process,” Georgiades told Action 24.
He noted that “Mr. Hadjichristodoulou and the Board had worked well for EODY and I want to thank them. I say this because some opposition parties came out to find the opportunity to blame Georgiades because, as we know, in Greece everything that is wrong is Georgiades’ fault.”
According to protothema.gr, the controversial incident occurred last Thursday on the occasion of a meeting on tuberculosis. According to the same information, the incident started when Mr. Hadjichristodoulou asked an employee of the EODY for the meeting that was to take place the next day (Friday).
According to the lawsuit filed by the EODY employee, the then still president of EODY was shouting at her despite the fact that she presented him with the approval of the National Tuberculosis Plan, and at one point he allegedly pushed her, causing the woman to hit her shoulder and strain her neck.
And then the woman told police officers she passed out while trying to calm down and was taken to George Genimatas Hospital.
