Nine violations of Greek airspace by Turkish aircraft

Seven aircraft of the Turkish Air Force flew over the Aegean

On Thursday, the Turkish Air Force carried out nine violations of national airspace, according to official data from the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS).

More specifically, two formations of F-16 fighter jets (two pairs), as well as three individual aircraft, flew over the Archipelago today. Of these, one was a CN-235 reconnaissance aircraft and two were unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In total, seven Turkish aircraft entered the Athens FIR.

Violations of air traffic regulations amounted to six, of which two were attributed to the fighter formations, three to the UAVs, and one to the CN-235.

At the same time, nine violations of national airspace were recorded, with two attributed to the F-16 fighters and seven to the CN-235.

The violations occurred in the northeastern, central, and southeastern Aegean. No engagements were recorded, and the Turkish aircraft were not armed.

As noted by the HNDGS, the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted by Hellenic Air Force jet gighters in accordance with international rules and standard practice.
