Kimberly Guilfoyle is looking for a bodyguard: See the U.S. Embassy job posting for a security coordinator position

Applications are submitted via the U.S. Embassy’s careers page – What qualifications candidates must meet

Newsroom March 31 10:09

Kimberly Guilfoyle is searching for her next… bodyguard. Yes, it’s not a joke: the U.S. Embassy in Greece published a job listing yesterday announcing that the position of bodyguard for the head of the American diplomatic mission in the country is open.

For the record, the job title is “bodyguard coordinator,” and the position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. And who could that be? Anyone, according to the embassy’s posting—provided they hold a high school diploma, have at least four years of experience as a private bodyguard, in security forces (host country police), or in the military, including at least six months in a supervisory/administrative role, possess excellent knowledge of English and Greek (reading, writing, and speaking), and hold a valid Category B driving license in Greece (or equivalent) for at least five years.

The posting, which was also shared on the embassy’s social media, specifically states that “the U.S. Embassy in Athens continues to accept applications for the position of Bodyguard Coordinator in the Regional Security Office (RSO).”

Duties
The incumbent serves as a Bodyguard Coordinator for the Protective Security Unit, which is provided by the host government, and participates in the execution of protective security operations (e.g., close protection) for the U.S. Ambassador/Chief of Mission, as well as other designated or visiting U.S. government officials, in accordance with relevant directives. The incumbent may serve in any capacity within the Bodyguard Unit, providing close protection services and site preparation for the Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Athens, with the aim of protecting them from physical harm and reputational risk.

Position: Bodyguard Coordinator
Location: Athens, Greece
Application Deadline: Open until filled

It is also noted that applications are submitted via the embassy’s careers page (gr.usembassy.gov/jobs), where further details about the position are available.

On the embassy’s careers page, it is stated that the position is full-time (40 hours per week) and offers a salary of €23,347 per year. It also notes—among other standard requirements—that candidates will undergo a background check (e.g., criminal record), as well as medical examinations, and must have a “thorough knowledge of defensive measures to be applied in the event of a terrorist attack,” such as those taught in military or law enforcement training.

Additionally, knowledge in areas such as first aid, fire safety, handling hostile attacks, defensive driving, and emergency driving is required.

Candidates must also be familiar with Greek police services, the military, security services, and other government bodies, to ensure effective cooperation and facilitate efficient protection operations, including advance and escort missions.
