A large crowd has been gathering since 08:00 in the morning at the chapel of Saint Eleftherios, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, where citizens and well-known figures are arriving to pay tribute to Marinella, who passed away at the age of 87.
The public viewing will continue until 13:00, followed by the funeral service at 14:00. The burial will take place in a close family circle. It is noted that the eulogies are expected to be delivered by Giorgos Dalaras and Haris Alexiou.

Among those present at the public viewing were Tania Tsanaklidou, Eleonora Zouganeli, Takis Zacharatos, Antonis Remos, Christos Mastoras, Giorgos Margaritis, and Tzortzia Kefala.
The widow of Stelios Kazantzidis, Vaso Katsavou, also bid farewell to the great performer, saying among other things that “she will meet Stelios up there” and “tell him that we love him.”
Tania Tsanaklidou said her own goodbye, emphasizing that there has never been another artist of Marinella’s caliber:
“Rest in peace, my sweet lady—we will always remember you. I will never forget her presence on stage; it was something unique. I don’t know anyone else with her energy.”
Vaso Katsavou commented that Marinella was unique and an extraordinary person:
“Marinella was an amazing singer. I wish someone could replace her, but I don’t think so. Unique in her kind, an incredible person. She was like a mother, a sister, a grandmother—the mother of everyone. We had a special relationship, especially after Stelios’ illness and death. She supported me, took me under her wing. May she rest in heaven and meet Stelios again and tell him we love him.”
Eleonora Zouganeli, who also attended, said:
“Marinella was a great personality. She lives strongly in my heart, and I’m sure her journey into the light will be beautiful and peaceful. Everyone will welcome her. I say goodbye with all my soul.”
Lakis Gavalas spoke of a true lady, a wonderful person, and a pioneer:
“This is the final farewell, but not really goodbye. She will always be with us. I have no words—I am deeply moved. I wish new generations will follow her example.”
Giannis Zouganelis stated:
“She deserved life and embraced it. She loved people and her country. She balanced everyday life with her presence and embraced everyone, including the youth. Unforgettable.”
Angela Dimitriou expressed her sorrow:
“She will go to the angels and sing there. Strength to her family. We will love her forever. Marinella will live on. She taught us how to sing beautifully.”
