The French aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” arrived early on Thursday morning at the Souda naval base, in Chania, at a time marked by increased geopolitical activity in the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to information from zarpanews.gr, Europe’s largest warship is expected to remain at the base for a total of six days, until Holy Tuesday, April 7.

The aircraft carrier stands out for its size and capabilities, as it has a length of 260 meters, a width of 64 meters, and a height of 75 meters, while its displacement reaches 42,500 tons. Hundreds of crew members serve on board, including sailors, marines, and personnel of the French naval aviation.

On its deck it carries Rafale Marine fighter jets, as well as helicopters of the Caïman and Dauphin (Panther) types, enhancing the operational capabilities of the French presence in the region.
