Empty in its natural habitat is the sea turtle “Capella”, which was found injured in January 2023 on the island of Kythnos with a severe head injury.
The turtle was taken for treatment to the “ARCHELON” organization, where it remained under observation for more than two years. According to the organization, “Capella” showed significant improvement and was deemed ready to return to the sea after the final measurements and tagging process were completed.
The tagging allows scientists to monitor her progress in her natural environment and collect data to help protect sea turtles in the Mediterranean.
The case of “Capella” is not the only one to record a happy ending, after another sea turtle, named “Everest” and weighing 105 kilograms, managed to beat death and return to the endless blue.
