The death of 19-year-old Myrto in Kefalonia was caused by cardiac arrest, according to the forensic examination. However, the exact cause remains unknown and will be determined by toxicology tests.
Meanwhile, a photo of the spot where the young woman was left unconscious in the early hours of Easter Tuesday has been published. The location is in a central square of Argostoli, directly opposite the hotel where she had been staying with three young men aged 23, 26, and 22.
The case is under close investigation by authorities.
She used cocaine twice before being found unconscious
According to police sources, the girl went to a hotel in Argostoli around midnight on Easter Monday with the 23-year-old.
At around 2 a.m., he suggested they use cocaine. They then called a 26-year-old former weightlifter, who brought the drugs and used them with them.
About an hour later, the 26-year-old left and returned with more cocaine. This time, he was accompanied by a 22-year-old Albanian man who, according to police sources, did not use drugs.
At that point, the 19-year-old appears to have collapsed and lost consciousness.
The 23-year-old cleaned the room
Greek police (EL.AS.) also stated the death and the arrest of the three young men for “exposure to danger.”
According to the statement, one of the suspects—the 23-year-old—after the girl fainted, hid her phone and cleaned the room where, according to those arrested, cocaine had been used.
They abandoned her in the square
Based on current information, the three men allegedly carried her unconscious to the square and then left her there.
Shortly afterward, emergency responders found her and transported her to the island’s hospital, where her death was confirmed.
Security camera footage being examined by police shows one of the men carrying her, while the other two follow.
Authorities identified the suspects by analyzing hotel surveillance footage.
The three individuals who were with her were brought before the prosecutor at 11 a.m. today, facing charges of exposing a person to danger.
One of the three arrested was seen arriving at court.
New details about the death of 19-year-old Myrtou in Kefalonia have come to light just hours after the arrest of the three young men who were with her, and as police authorities continue to investigate to fully solve the case.
The arrested men, ages 26, 22, and 23, were allegedly with the young woman at the time she lost consciousness in a hotel room, and a case has been filed against them for the offence of “exposure”. Before collapsing, the 19-year-old was taken to Argostoli, where she was found in a semi-conscious state and was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. No visible injuries were found on her body, while the exact cause of death is expected to be clarified by the forensic examination.
Examination of video footage shows that one of the three youths carried her while the other two followed.
A decisive role in the development of the investigation seems to have been played by a message sent by the arrested men to a friend of the girl, which reportedly “betrayed” them and led the authorities on their trail.
Specifically, after abandoning the girl, they sent messages to the cell phone of a friend of the 19-year-old girl in which they said “we have left her” and a second one that said, “we have left Myrto, over there alone.”
When she received the messages, her friend informed her family and the police.
According to information reported by Mega, the third arrestee claimed that the group had used drugs in a house, specifically cocaine, and attempted to blame the other two arrestees.
According to the same information, he testified that the 19-year-old girl collapsed at some point and then they decided to take her outside, leaving her on the street, in order, as he claimed, to “get some air”.
It is recalled that an arrest warrant was pending against the third arrested man by the prosecutor’s office for the offence of exposure to danger, as, according to evidence from security cameras, he allegedly accompanied the other two to the central square of Argostoli, where they left the 19-year-old unconscious.
Earlier, the Argostoli Police Department had proceeded to arrest two more young men, who, as revealed by the examination of video footage, were with the 19-year-old girl shortly before her death.
According to the same information, they are a 26-year-old Greek and a 22-year-old of Albanian origin, who are accused of endangering and allegedly came to the authorities of their own accord after the tragic news was made public.

The announcement of the Hellenic Weightlifting Federation
The Greek Weightlifting Federation stated the 26-year-old man arrested was allegedly involved in the case.
In its post, the Federation said:
“The Hellenic Weightlifting Federation would like to announce that the person arrested in Kefalonia is not an active weightlifting athlete, nor does he have a sports card.
Any reference to him as a “weightlifting athlete” does not do justice to the effort and effort of thousands of active weightlifting athletes who are loyal to the values of Sport and Olympism and have nothing to do with illegal actions.”
