National Bank begins to provide Mortgage loans for the first time since crisis

Three out of four requests for obtaining mortgage loans get approved – National Bank in the next six months will provide mortgage loans totaling up to 250 million euro

During a conference of Prodexpo the General director of National Bank Ms Nellie Tzakou Lampropoulou expressed her optimism for the recovery of mortgage loans for the first time since crisis began.

She characteristically stated that: “Since May of this year, culminating in September, for the first time the National Bank noted an increase on mortgage loans, while at the same time three out of four requests get approved”.
Further, she added that:”During the second quarter of this year and the first of 2015, National Bank has programmed to provide mortgage loans totaling up to 250 million euro”.
Regarding the mortgage loans during the crisis, among others the General Director of National Bank, stressed that the banking system for new mortgage loans decreased dramatically from 15 billion euro in 2007 to approximately 170 million euro in 2013.
Finally, she highlighted that there are potential of development on mortgage loans, since Greeks are not in debt compare to other Europeans.
