3rd Balkans and the Adriatic Oil & Gas Summit to be held in Athens

Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Yiannis Maniatis said that prospects in southeastern Europe region are from encouraging to extremely positive and attract the interest of small and big oil companies

The 3rd Balkans and the Adriatic Oil & Gas Summit will take place on 1st-3rd October 2014 at the 5* Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens and is sponsored by Bankers Petroleum, EPE, NRC, Spectrum, Weatherford, Aggreko, Phoenix Technology Services and ATP Instone.

The Petroleum Club of Romania, the Romanian Committee of the World Energy Council, the Romanian Energy Center and the Albanian Energy Association are supporters of the initiative. IRN has also partnered with the “The Smile of the Child”, a foundation that is doing extensive work across the whole Balkans region as the Official Charity Partner for the Summit.

At the official press conference for the 3rd Annual Balkans and the Adriatic Oil & Gas 2014 Summit, held on 30 September in Athens by IRN, the Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Yiannis Maniatis, Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry of Albania Dorian Ducka, Ambassador of Croatia to Greece Ivan Velimir Starčević and Head of Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Economy of Montenegro Ivana Gardasevic announced the basic developments in the field of hydrocarbons occur in Greece, Albania, Croatia and Montenegro, respectively.

Mr. Maniatis stressed that prospects in southeastern Europe region are from encouraging to extremely positive and attract the interest of small and big oil companies starting from the Mediterranean area. Adriatic sea, Ionian Sea and the sea area south of Crete are points where research gave positive evidence. The oil companies already see Balkans and Adriatic regions as interesting places for investments.
He also pointed out the need for regional cooperation in the sector of exploration, noting that positive news in one country can bring benefits to all the countries in the region.
