5 luxury resorts opening in Greece this year – Where they are located

If you're looking for luxury and tranquility, avoiding the crowded places, finding luxury accommodation in quiet summer destinations can be a challenge

Newsroom February 2 06:09

After an excellent year for tourism in Greece in 2023, Greece will continue its success this year, according to Bloomberg. Airlines and tour operators predict that 2024 will be one of the best years for the domestic tourism industry.

Last summer – as is the case every year – the beaches and alleys on some of the country’s most popular islands were packed with tourists.

If you are a lover of amenities but at the same time, you seek tranquility and avoid crowded areas, then finding luxury infrastructure in quiet summer destinations is a challenge.

But that’s changing. This year, the most impressive hotels expected to open for the first time are located on lesser-known Greek islands for an international audience.

A typical example is Folegandros, with a population of no more than 1,000 residents. It is only one hour by boat from Santorini and about three hours from Athens.

This summer, Folegandros welcomes Gundari, the island’s first luxury hotel. All rooms of the hotel have a private pool and the restaurant will be headed by Lefteris Lazarou.

Odera, Tinos

Tinos is known as a spiritual place, with the church of Panagia attracting thousands of pilgrims every year. Odera, the island’s first luxury hotel, offers 77 rooms with limestone walls and wooden beams, many with access to a communal pool and spa.

Gundari, Folegandros

Although, Folegandros is not known for its nightlife, the Gundari, the island’s first luxury hotel, brings a new vibe. Its 27 rooms, all with private pools and sea views, occupy 80 acres. With a wine bar serving local Greek wines and a prime location, Gundari is ideal for those seeking tranquility with luxury. Electric bikes and ATVs are also provided for exploring secluded coves.

Avant Mar, Paros, Paros

Paros may be one of the most popular islands in our country every year yet it successfully combines tranquility with fun. With a 55-metre-long swimming pool offering sea views, and restaurants such as Matsuhisa Paros, Avant Mar creates an atmosphere for fun and relaxation.
