Thousands of refugees and migrants continue to land on the Greek islands breaking a new record a few days ago reaching 9,763 arrivals in 24 hours.

Men, women and children are packed in the islands waiting to being transferred to another European country hoping for a new and better life.

Many refugees and many baby refugees have lost their lives trying to reach land after their boat was capsized.

The Greek people have shown from the beginning their solidarity helping the families who were violently forced to abandon their homes and risk their lives traveling in small boats.

Either organized in groups or at their own they offer whatever they can from food and clothes to just helping a mother to feed her baby.

A few days ago a photo of three old women in Lesvos feeding a refugee baby became viral.

Last month a shepherd in Limnos island was the first person  to spot a group of refugees who arrived on the island and the first one to help them by giving them milk.

The baker association in Thessaloniki gathered bread for the refugees, a group of women in Thessaloniki knit beanies and scarves for children refugees and many other citizens movements all over Greece collect food and clothes for the refuges.

It seems that where politicians fail, people take over.
