This summer has it all! And although it is true that, in some Greek islands, hotel prices have reached absurd levels, there are many Greek destinations where prices have dropped significantly compared with July 2013.
Due to the great demand for the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos this summer, hotel prices at the island have reached absurd levels. The island ranks first among the most expensive destinations, with the largest increase in average hotel rates (61%) compared with the same month last year.
However, although the average nightly rate in Mykonos has reached 322 euros this year, from 200 euros in June 2013, the “island of the winds” is completely booked-out.
Other expensive destinations according to Trivago survey include Elounda and generally Crete, Andros (5% increase), Corfu (3% increase), Hydra (5% increase).
The average nightly rate at the last three islands is 100, 109 and 100 euros, respectively.
Hotel prices may be higher in some Greek islands, but in others the average nightly rate is significantly lower compared with July 2013.
Folegandros, one of the most favorite destinations of Greek youth, ranks first among the most affordable destinations. On this beautiful island, the average nightly rate dropped to 97 euros from 133 euros last July (27% reduction).
In second place we find a popular family destination, Koukounaries in Skiathos. With a reduction of 24%, the average nightly rate is around 108 euros, from 142 euros last July.
