Parliament, in its third summer session, approved the antiracism bill yesterday night after the main opposition SYRIZA and far-right Golden Dawn called for a roll call vote on three of its articles.
As it was expected, there were many arguments within the parties, especially for the second article related to the denial of genocide with malicious intent.
99 MPs participated in the voting process.
The first article related to the public incitement of racist violence or hate crimes passed with the votes of 58 MPs from New Democracy, PASOK and DIMAR as well as independent MPs.
The second article related to the denial of genocide with malicious intent passed with 54 MPs voting “yes”, and 42 “no”.
Lastly, the third article related to prosecution of the above-mentioned acts, even if they perpetrate them on internet platforms from abroad was passed with the votes of 60 MPs, from New Democracy, PASOK and DIMAR and Independent Greeks and independent MPs.
