The first Chinese Film Week will be organized from 15 to 18 September in Athens aiming to introduce Chinese film culture to a wider audience.
The event will be hosted at the Greek Film Archive, whereas a Week of Greek Films is scheduled to be held in China, as Deputy Culture and Sports Minister Angela Gerekou said yesterday following a meeting with a Chinese delegation.
Gerekou met with Tong Gang, the deputy director of the Chinese press and mass media administration.
They also discussed a bilateral agreement on joint film productions and the exemption on an annual basis of Greek films from the state limit on screenings of foreign films in China as well as the collaboration of the Greek and Chinese Film Archives, the Hong Kong Film Archive, the Shanghai Film Museum, and the Film Festivals of Thessaloniki, Beijing and Shanghai.
The movies chosen for the event were released during the past three years and are screened with Greek subtitles.
