One day she realized that the traditional blood tests were too complex and expensive for a process that has existed since 1960 and has never changed.

So, she decided to change it. It took her a good a decade to complete and implement her idea, but now it seems that the decision to quit her studies was the right one.

Eleven years ago she founded the diagnostic center ‘Theranos’, in order to change the way they made the exam and so she did.  She developed a way for blood tests to be done only with a single drop of blood coming from a small tweak instead of the well known procedure. Moreover, the results are given with incredible speed compared to the standard.
Theranos is now worth 9 billion dollars and Holmes owns 50% of the company. The woman who wears only black and self-teach Chinese when she was a student in high school, did not follow the orthodox route.
