Kolonos rape trial: No extenuating circumstances for Michos in the prosecutor’s proposal

No mitigating circumstances for the mother of the 12-year-old girl for the act of extortion

Newsroom April 1 01:04

Not to grant mitigating circumstances to Elias Michos and the mother of the minor, allegedly proposed a short while ago in the closed trial for the case of Kolonou prosecutor of the Mixed Jury Court of Athens.

In particular, the prosecutor allegedly requested that mitigating circumstances should not be granted to Michos because of the heinous acts for which he was convicted.

For the so-called ‘Michalis’, also a key defendant in the Cologne trial, the prosecutor also requested that no mitigating circumstances be granted.

Now for the mother of the 12-year-old girl the prosecutor also reportedly suggested that no mitigating circumstances be granted on the grounds that the act of extortion for which she was convicted contains apathy, as well as because she neglected her minor daughter.

Even for the so-called “clients” of the minor who were convicted, the prosecutor allegedly favoured granting mitigating circumstances for those with a one-time offence.

On the contrary, for those with a repeat offence, she asked for mitigating circumstances to be denied.

Finally, the prosecutor did not recognise the mitigating circumstance of good behaviour after the act for any convicted person, while for one convicted person who allegedly attempted suicide the prosecutor asked for the mitigating circumstance of sincere remorse.

The decision will be taken by the court.

The final decision on the mitigating circumstances will be made by the court. The sentences to be imposed on the convicted persons will then be decided.
