Newsroom May 16 11:25

The murder of the woman from Albania, who was found dead in the middle of the street in Menidi on Thursday morning with a knife in her abdomen, is being examined with the police investigating the case to trace the perpetrator or perpetrators who took her life. According to finding by the Hellenic Police, it emerges that the 40-year-old woman, both recently and a decade ago, had addressed the authorities three times and had reported her estranged husband for domestic violence.

The first report was made on April 3, 2013, with the woman filing a complaint against her former partner for violating domestic violence legislation. At that time, the man was arrested and taken to the prosecutor.

The second report was made on September 18, 2022, with the victim accusing her estranged husband of threats, bodily harm, and verbal abuse. The man was arrested again and taken to the prosecutor. At this point, it should be noted that there was a court order prohibiting him from residing with the victim; however, she had allowed him to do so since 2018.

The last and final report was on May 7, 2024, again for domestic violence (threats, bodily harm, and verbal abuse). The man was arrested and taken to the prosecutor, and received a court date for Friday, May 17, 2024. The head of the domestic violence unit called her two days after the incident, and she responded that she was fine.
