Touching moments unfolded at the Salamis Naval Base upon the return to Greece of the frigate HS Hydra after 120 days in the Gulf of Aden as part of the European Operation Aspides.

The ships of the Hellenic Navy, which welcomed the Greek frigate as an informal…”welcoming committee”, used water cannons and fireworks to greet them.

The frigate and its 198 Hellenic Navy personnel served their mission with utmost proficiency, as they had to engage in actual firing against UAVs and drones on at least two occasions to protect commercial vessels.

In the video an officer can be seen holding a piece of one of the drones that the frigate’s crew downed with the ship’s weapons.

It is worth noting that the frigate HS Psara will take over the position of the HS Hydra in the Red Sea in the coming days.
