A 31-year-old Georgian man with a Greek identity and his 27-year-old Greek partner, who had broken into six apartments in the centre of Heraklion, Mastampa and Therissos from last Monday to Wednesday, made a glamorous living in a luxury Airbnb, where they also hid their loot.
Security officers managed to identify them thanks to the 27-year-old’s distinctive dreadlocked blonde hair, which was recorded by closed-circuit cameras, and arrested them in the centre of Heraklion city, where they were walking around posing as tourists.
At the Airbnb where they were staying in the Agios Pavlos area of Rethymno, all the stolen jewellery was found and returned to its owners. After the prosecution for distinguished thefts against them by the prosecutor of Heraklion’s Prosecutor’s Office, the couple remains in custody until Tuesday when they will apologize to the interrogator.
