Approximately 30 students that participated in the “UoP4e” project gathered on October 23 at the Greek Car Museum in Athens to present the car

Newsroom October 25 10:50

The first Greek electric racing car (UoP4e) that was manufactured by students of the University of Patras won the first place at Formula Student Czech Rebublic 2014, a prestigious international competition that took place in August.

More specifically, the one-seat racing car that weighs 235kg and was designed and manufactured by students of Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics of the University of Patras secured the first place in the E1 category.

It should be noted that Formula Student Czech Rebublic 2014 is considered, since the ‘80s, the ultimate “Crash Test” for the capabilities and skills of tomorrow’s engineers.

The 30 students who participated in the “UoP4e” project gathered on October 23 at the Greek Car Museum in Athens to present the car, which excelled in many categories of the competition.

UoP4e Specifications

The fifth car of the UoP team is a car which incorporates all of their past year’s knowledge and experience, hard work and pure imagination for another step forward. This evolutionary car’s highlight is the whole new ELECTRIC drivetrain plus chassis design. It has a more complex geometry than the team’s last three cars. Moreover, suspension is designed so that all drivers can have optimal control of the car taking in consideration the powerful motor. In regards of the transmission, motor and accumulator the UoP team has always had these three words on their mind: FUNCTIONALITY-DURABILITY-LIGHTWEIGHT.
