Fire in Attica: ELAS appeal to citizens not to move towards the fire-affected areas

"The uninterrupted movement of firefighting vehicles is a critical factor in the operations of the Fire Brigade," read the statement

Newsroom August 12 08:43

In light of the major fire raging in northeastern Attica, ELAS issued a statement calling on citizens to avoid any movement to areas affected by fires and to follow, for their own safety, the instructions issued for evacuation of areas.

In detail, the relevant announcement:

“The Hellenic Police is appealing to all citizens to avoid any movement towards the areas affected by fires, as this will hamper the work of the Traffic Police and the Fire Brigade forces.

In addition, citizens are urged to strictly follow the instructions issued for evacuation of areas and not to attempt to return to areas that have already burned, for their own safety and to facilitate the response to the situation.

The unimpeded movement of firefighting vehicles is a critical factor in the Fire Department’s operations to extinguish the fire.
