Severe problems were caused by the heavy downpour that hit Rhodes earlier Wednesday afternoon as part of the “Atena” storm. The heavy rainfall caused significant difficulties for traffic within the city.
Drivers are advised to be particularly careful, as major problems have been recorded in several areas, including Agios Dimitrios, the center of Rhodes, Michael Petridi Street and the area of Analipsi. Also, parts of the Rhodes – Lindos road and the areas of the Kanellopoulou extension and the Ethnikis Antistasis street have turned into rivers.
Serious difficulties were also recorded in the area of the Cretans up to Ialyssos. The relevant authorities, including the Fire Service, are on alert, while DEYAR has proceeded to deploy tanks to drain the water.
