Turkish authorities search for the traces of the 78-year-old Greek who went missing in Constantinople

What the daughter of Dimitris Papadimitriou says to protothema.gr

Newsroom September 12 04:01

Hours of agony continue for the family of 78-year-old Greek from Kozani, whose traces were lost while he was on an excursion to Constantinople.

Speaking to protothema.gr, the daughter of Dimitris Papadimitriou, who hails from Servia in Kozani, said the thriller with the disappearance of her father continues for the seventh day, while there is no newer clue about where their man may be.

Turkish authorities’ investigations are focusing, among other things, on security cameras that may have recorded the elderly man’s movements as he disappeared in Taksim Square, which is one of the most important places in Constantinople.

“There is no development so far in the case of my father’s disappearance. I don’t know what else we can do. My brother and daughter are in Constantinople. The search for his whereabouts continues and we are being updated daily on their progress late at noon,” the 78-year-old’s daughter said.

“We have considered all possible scenarios regarding his disappearance. He was on an excursion and his trail disappeared in Taxim Square. The information from the Turkish authorities is that they are looking at the cameras and following his trail until they find something very ‘tangible’ to inform us as well. In a video that my brother and daughter saw to verify that it is my father who is shown, it is from the moment he returns to Taksim Square where his trail disappears. The Turkish authorities are not giving any more information and we are waiting,” he noted.

The traces of the elderly man disappeared a few hours after they landed in Turkey last Thursday and went for a walk in Taksim Square. Both the Turkish authorities and the consulate were informed by the people in charge of the excursion and immediately began searching for him, with no results so far.
