The “Eurex” (https://eudoxus.gr) platform opens tomorrow, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, for student textbook declarations. The declaration process will close on Friday, December 20, 2024. However, if the Secretariat of a Department has set a different start or end date for textbook declarations, this will apply.
The distribution of textbooks also begins tomorrow, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 and ends on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
What students need to know about “Edox”
Students declare courses to their department and become eligible for a withdrawal only for those courses they have included in their current semester course declaration – fall or spring.
The number of courses, that a student may receive each semester is determined solely by the student’s department.
The texts selected must correspond to the courses declared otherwise the user’s account is blocked by “Eudoxo”.
In addition, free printed textbooks can also be provided to students who are following a course of study for a second degree.
It should be noted that, under the current legislation, students who have exceeded n+2 years of study are not entitled to free textbooks.
Regarding the ability to declare and receive textbooks for courses in previous semesters, a student may declare it in case he/she has not passed the examination in the course and has not received textbooks for the course in previous semesters. However, the student is not entitled to a new textbook in the same course if the course has changed in the meantime and the student had received the textbook previously.
In cases, where the indication “Availability 0” appears on a textbook, the student should be informed when the Publisher will send new copies to the Distribution Point, as they are out of stock. The notification in the application is automatically made as soon as new copies are available and at the same time, the available stock is recorded.
Regarding the ability to retrieve the personal PIN code if a loss has occurred, the student can request to resend the PIN code from the app in “Eudox”. Specifically, he/she should go to the home page of Eudoxos and follow the following steps: “Declarations of Textbooks” -> “Update current declaration” or “Review” for an older declaration -> “Continue” and on the new screen he can select “Remind PIN number”. The PIN is displayed on the screen while simultaneously sent to the default e-mail.
What applies to students in transition due to transfer
Regarding students, who are in transition due to transfer application, if they have already started studying in their home department and have procured textbooks from “Eudoxo”, once they transfer to the host department, they will re-select textbooks again through the platform.
If they have already taken the examination in the home department, students need to inform the User Assistance Office regarding the number of courses for which they have received textbooks and at the discretion of the General Assembly of the host department they are exempted from the examination. This notification is not required if the transfer applicant is in his/her first semester of study and has not taken the examination in the home department.
For those students whose transfer application has not been approved by the designated deadline for textbook declarations, there is no possibility of submitting a declaration for the host department – the selection of courses and the receipt of the corresponding textbooks will take place in the next semester, provided that the conditions for their receipt are still met.
The calculation of the total number of courses for which textbooks have been received before the launch of the “Eudoxos” platform does not include free university notes or lab notes. It should be noted that in the case of transfers, the number of texts received in the home department is also included.
What applies to newly admitted students
Newly admitted students, should receive authentication codes (username, password) from the institution and then select the textbooks with the specific codes, which they have received.
As a reminder, special care is required from students in relation to the security of their passwords. In particular, they should not disclose the User Name and Password given to them by their institution, as well as the personal PIN code they receive when registering their writings. Also, if students log on to the system from a public computer, they should ensure that they select the “Logout” button when they exit so that the browser is closed.
If the student changes their mind about the textbook they have already registered, they have the right to change their choice on the “Eudoxos” platform within the deadline, as long as they have not already received it. It should be noted, however, that if it is a textbook sent by courier, there is no possibility for the student to change the choice if the book has already started to be sent by the Publisher.
If a student does not receive the textbook for a declared course, he/she retains the right to select the textbook at a later date, provided he/she includes it again in his/her course declaration.
What applies to publishers and students
In case a Publisher does not have a Distribution Point in the particular county where a student is studying, then the textbook is compulsorily delivered through a courier service, in the student’s city and at a courier company’s point of presence, to be selected by the student. If the student neglects to receive this Textbook, he/she loses the right to receive the Textbook.
Students have the opportunity to exchange textbooks with students of their department through the “Eudox+” action. For each such exchange, credit points are added to their account. Credit points can be redeemed through the application of Eudoxus in parallel with the declaration of the student’s writings.
Finally, with regard to Publishers, it is noted that the allocation of textbooks to Higher Education Institutions is only possible through the Eudoxos online service. Military schools are an exception. The Hellenic Open University also participates in ‘Eudoxos’. Foreign language textbooks are also available through the “Eudoxos” platform.
