Tragic loss: 18-year-old Haritini Karachristou passes away following devastating accident

The Karachristou family after 20-year-old Akis, now mourns again for 18-year-old Haritini

Newsroom November 24 09:08

18-year-old Haritini Karachristou, who was critically injured in a horrific car accident on November 2 in Agrinio that claimed the life of her 20-year-old brother Akis, has sadly passed away.

The Accident Details

The fatal accident occurred on the Antirrio-Ioannina National Highway near the Megali Chora junction. A violent side-frontal collision took place between a car, carrying a Roma family, and a two-wheeler ridden by the siblings. The car was crossing the highway when the motorbike, traveling in the direction of Amfilochia, struck it with significant force.

Akis Karachristos, 20, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His younger sister, Haritini, was rushed to the ICU at Agrinio Hospital, where her family held onto hope for a miracle despite the doctors’ limited optimism.

Haritini’s Battle for Life

Haritini fought valiantly to survive. The medical team’s efforts were relentless, but her condition remained critical from the beginning. A call for financial support to transfer her to a specialized ICU gained traction on social media, as the family sought every possible measure to save her.
