The opposition television channel in Georgia Mtavari Arkhi reported that Iraqli Garibashvili, leader of the ruling party of Georgia, “Georgian Dream”, is leaving his post, Russia’s state-run news agency TASS reported today.
There was no immediate comment from “Georgian Dream” and Reuters was unable to confirm the TV channel’s report.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze had said earlier today that an attempt to make what he called a “revolution” in the country had failed, after a fifth consecutive night of protests against a decision to suspend talks on the country’s membership of the European Union.
