Two foreign nationals were arrested in Chania for smuggling illegal cigarettes.

In their possession, authorities confiscated 140 packs of tobacco cigarettes that lacked the legally required customs markings, as well as €1,811 in cash.

The arrest was carried out by the Chania Police Operations Unit, and the investigation is being conducted by the Chania Crimes Detection and Investigation Division.

The two men are charged with violations of the National Customs Code and are expected to be brought before the prosecutor.
