A call to shopkeepers and citizens for the depositing of garbage in the centre of Thessaloniki during the New Year days is addressed by the Cleanliness, Recycling and Climate Protection department of the municipality of Thessaloniki.

As stated in a relevant announcement, due to the festive events in the city center on New Year’s Eve, which make it difficult or impossible for the smooth movement of garbage trucks, shopkeepers are invited to deposit their waste no later than tomorrow, Tuesday, until 16.00 and in a second phase, in the evening, after the end of the festivities and the closure of shops.

Residents are also asked to minimize the depositing of rubbish and recycling products in the green and blue bins on New Year’s Eve, the first and second day of the New Year.

The same statement stressed that collection will return to normal from Thursday evening (January 2) and reminded that the depositing of bulky items is expressly prohibited.
