The first images from Zendaya’s role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, Odyssey, have been released. The much-anticipated production is currently in progress, with many scenes being filmed in Greece—specifically in Methoni, Pylos, and Voidokilia Beach.

At present, filming is also taking place on the Aegadian Islands in Italy, a location famous for its stunning caves. In the released photos, Zendaya is seen wearing a white, ancient Greek-style gown. While her role has not been officially confirmed, speculation suggests that she will portray Athena, the advisor of Odysseus, played by Matt Damon.

Initially, theories suggested that Zendaya might also play Calypso—the nymph who keeps Odysseus captive on her island, Ogygia, for seven years while trying to make him her immortal husband—or Nausicaa, the beautiful daughter of King Alcinous, who helps Odysseus after he is shipwrecked on her island.

However, Charlize Theron has been cast as Calypso, while the actress portraying Nausicaa remains unknown. Christopher Nolan has assembled an impressive cast for the film, featuring Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Lupita Nyong’o as Circe, and Robert Pattinson as Poseidon.

The film follows Odysseus’ decade-long journey as he struggles to return to Ithaca after the fall of Troy, encountering gods, monsters, and epic challenges. Nolan’s Odyssey is expected to be one of the most ambitious cinematic adaptations of Greek mythology, with high expectations for its visual storytelling and the performances of its distinguished cast.
