Severe weather conditions hit large parts of Greece on Monday afternoon (March 31).

In particular, the most serious problems are reported in the Cyclades, where heavy rainfall has caused extensive damage. On Paros, especially in Naoussa, the intensity of the rain created raging torrents that swept away vehicles and caused significant material destruction.

“There is a serious problem on the island’s main roads. It has been raining very heavily for two hours, causing rockslides, swollen streams, and worsening road conditions,” said the mayor of Paros, Kostas Bizas, speaking to protothema.gr.

At the same time, heavy hailstorms hit Syros. The hail was followed by intense rainfall, turning roads into rivers, according to cycladeslive.gr.

Earlier, a warning message had been sent via “112,” informing Cyclades residents about the severe weather conditions and urging them to be extra cautious when traveling.
