Canberra, the Australian capital, now hosts perhaps the weirdest hotel in the world. This is “Jamala Wildlife Lodge”, which is inside the National Zoo and Aquarium.

Amongst the caves and haunts of wild animals, many of which are threatened species, businessman and hotel owner Richard Tindale created eighteen luxurious bungalows separated from the animal habitats with a thick glass.

Thus, visitors living in “Jamala Wildlife Lodge” will have the opportunity to dine, bathe or rest next to a family of lions, monkeys, or giraffes. The owner claims that he built the hotel in order to give visitors the chance to get to know many a wild animal under threat of extinction, while he claims that income from the lodge will be given to the Zoo’s program for animal procreation.

The price of a bungalow starts at 260 euro per night, but can go even higher, according to the type of bungalow.

The hotel owner disclaims that the sleep of visitors may not be as calm when lions are roaring right next to them.
