A significant reduction of illegal labor was recorded through the implementation of operational plan “ARTEMIS”, even in industries with high rates of illegal labor activity, due to high fines that would be imposed otherwise.
Specifically, between the 15th of September 2013, up to the 30th of April 2014, 12792 businesses in all sectors of the economy were checked, of a total of 81433 workers, out of which 1507 were found to be working illegally undocumented.
The fines imposed since September 15th, exclusively on undeclared work, reached 15,641,821 euros.
On the other hand, targeted inspections of undeclared work conducted by joint teams of Labor Inspection and IKA in sectors and activities with a high rate of illegal employment, confirm the downward trend of recorded uninsured employers after the “ARTEMIS” plan’s implementation and the imposition of new, high fines.
As a result of the inspections and checks carried out in April, the percentage of uninsured employees working in the abovementioned sectors stood at 21.65%, significantly lower than the 39.18% recorded in April 2013.
