The presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, exchanged congratulatory messages through their associates on the occasion of Victory Day.
The news was confirmed by the Russian president’s aide, Yuri Usakov, in a statement to Channel One, noting that the exchange of messages took place in a spirit of mutual respect.
“Through their associates, the Russian president and President Trump exchanged congratulations on our joint holiday,” Usakov said in response to a question about the content of the messages.
Asked about the exact content of the messages exchanged between the two leaders, Usakov clarified: “Warm words, mutual congratulations on a joint, great celebration.”
