Be patient until the middle of next week when weather improves said the director of Hellenic National Meteorological Service, Theodoros Kolydas, to protothema.gr.

Based on the current available data, the bad weather is due to a low pressure and showers and thunderstorms should be expected mainly on Friday and the weekend.

As for the next few hours Mr Kolydas estimates that mainly the islands, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region will be affected by the rains occurred at Volos. Generally the bad weather will mainly affect the central and northern Greece.

According to Mr. Kolydas, this low pressure area covers northern Greece and therefore residents will experience severe weather phenomena but not as severe as those occurred in northern Balkan countries like Romania.

Rain and strong winds from variable directions are forecast for the next few days and the wind velocity will reach 7-8 on the Beaufort scale, even at Attica region.

Especially for Attica region, Mr. Kolydas estimates that today there will be no severe phenomena, but rain is expected on Sunday.

“Samothrace, Lemnos and Chios will be mainly affected by the bad weather” in the coming days the director of Hellenic National Meteorological Service said.

Also, temperature will drop ranging between 26°C and 27°C.
