Fate dealt a strange hand to Faye Blacha’s killer, Vangelis Stefanakis, who passed away – possibly from a heart attack – just before his partner gave birth to their child.
According to reports, the man convicted in April 2013 for Faye’s manslaughter was released from prison to visit his partner who is due to give birth any day now. But he did not get to see his child as the thread of his life was suddenly cut on Thursday afternoon.
What is surprising and raises questions is that, as it became known, Stefanakis, during the time he was held in the country’s prisons, managed to acquire a black Ferrari, a gas station on a main street in Spata, a shop of a well-known coffee chain and two pistols.
A $350,000 Ferrari in the convict’s possession
It is a Ferrari 488 which has a retail price for the Spider RWD version of about $350,000. While for the Pista RWD version the price is around $330,000.
Reports suggest that Stefanakis has been involved in selling cars; however, what remains unknown for now is his role. No one knows so far if he was a buyer, seller, or even a broker.
Stefanakis, who was convicted of manslaughter, used to drive around in such vehicles on his leaves from prison. In the past, he had granted his wife a luxury Mercedes AMG.
The black Ferrari:
Since Thursday evening, a black two-seater Ferrari, which belonged to the 37-year-old killer of Faye (reports say that he also owned a red Ferrari), has been parked in the parking lot of the police station.
Security officers conducted a preliminary check on the Italian supercar, but it is expected to be taken to the Hellenic Police Forensic Laboratories for a more thorough investigation. But the question that arises effortlessly is the obvious one: How did a man convicted of manslaughter come to possess a Ferrari? Were there any persons in whose names the relevant licences had been issued? The most basic of all: with what money was such a vehicle purchased?
With what money was such a vehicle purchased?
The murder of 23-year-old Faye
It will be recalled that Stefanakis was convicted for the murder of 23-year-old Faye. In particular, the killer beat the girl so badly that she was taken to the hospital and eventually ended up dead.
The beauty, as she was called by her surroundings, had a love affair with the 25-year-old, then, Vangelis Stefanakis. However, 32-year-old Mariolena Blaha, by 9 years older sister of Faye, claimed Stefanaki and in order to spoil the relationship of her younger sister revealed that she herself had sexual relations with him. Then, Faye asked the 25-year-old to meet. Indeed, they met almost outside the girl’s house and started arguing intensely about the issue.
The protagonist of the Nea Makri love triangle savagely beat his partner. As the court decision stated, “hitting her with force and professionalism, with punches and kicks to the head and other parts of the body, resulting in: craniocerebral injury with subarachnoid hemorrhage and diffuse cerebral edema, hematoma in the left eye with extension to the cheekbone and other minor injuries.” The perpetrator, according to the judges, knew that “these blows were likely to cause her death.”
Due to the savage beating, the girl lost consciousness and fell into the street. When the assailant saw her unconscious, he took her in his car to a friend’s house. There, in consultation with a second friend, they took her to an on-call hospital. Unfortunately, however, the transfer of the unfortunate girl to the hospital was very delayed, as the beating took place “at around 2.45 to 3am, and they arrived at the hospital at around 5 am.”
