On July 27, Eva Chantava married her partner, Ken Smith, in Milos, and at the end of August she departed for Nepal, which was to be her first stop for this season.

The most well-traveled Greek volleyball player had agreed to play with Karnali Yashvis, but the two-week tournament was abruptly interrupted due to the chaotic situation that has unfolded in the Asian country in recent days.

Anti-government demonstrations have escalated far beyond a simple expression of discontent with corruption. The parliament building has been set on fire, Prime Minister Oli has resigned, and the mostly young protesters appear determined to push through until the country turns a new page.

The situation is out of control, violence dominates the streets of Kathmandu, and Chantava is trapped in Nepal’s capital. She posted on Facebook about her predicament.
