Details of the Fines
Two heavy fines were imposed by DIMEA (Directorate for Market Surveillance) on two major supermarket chains following inspections regarding compliance with the profit margin cap and the Code of Conduct.
Specifically:
- Sklavenitis: €1,440,000 fine for violations of the Code of Conduct.
- Lidl: €805,340 fine for violations of the profit margin cap.
The inspection for Lidl was ordered in 2024 by Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos and concluded recently.
Ministry of Development Announcement
Following the completion of inspections conducted by DIMEA regarding adherence to the profit margin cap and the Code of Conduct, the following decisions were announced:
- Lidl: Fine of €805,340 for violations of the profit margin cap, after an inspection ordered in 2024 by Minister Takis Theodorikakos. The process concluded on September 5, 2025.
- Sklavenitis: Fine of €1,440,000 for violations of the Code of Conduct, following an inspection ordered in the summer of 2025.
As required by law, both companies were informed before the announcement of the decisions.
