Reports of two suspicious drones near a naval base in southern Sweden

According to authorities, two large drones were spotted flying over the archipelago of Karlskruna - A connection with last year's "New Jersey drones" phenomenon?

Newsroom September 26 05:23

Reports of suspicious drones appearing just six miles from the naval base at Karlskruna in southern Sweden are being investigated by local police.

According to authorities, two large drones were spotted flying over the area’s archipelago, and one of them was observed in real time by a patrol car called to the area near the Möcklösundsbron bridge.

“It was a larger type, similar to the one that flew over Denmark,” the head of investigations at the Karlskruna police station told the SVT network. He said, “it is not clear exactly what it is, but a report has been filed for a violation of the Aviation Act.”

Police are investigating whether the incident is linked to previous incidents in Denmark, which on Monday led to the temporary closure of the country’s busiest airport.

Another airport closed in Denmark

Meanwhile, another airport in Denmark had to close last night after a second, in two nights, drone alert, with Copenhagen saying it has been receiving a “hybrid attack” of unknown origin since the start of the week.

The airspace above Alborg airport in northern Denmark had to be closed yesterday, Thursday, evening due to an alert for unmanned aerial vehicles, before being reopened at around 00:35 (local time, 01:00 today GMT), Danish police said.

Airport closures forced a flight from Amsterdam to recoil and caused the cancellation of a Scandinavian Airlines flight that was due to depart Copenhagen, according to flight-tracking and airline websites.

A connection with last year’s “New Jersey drones” phenomenon?

It should be reminded that last Fall a similar phenomenon brought the American authorities to high alert, when drones and UAPs were seeing by thousands of people initially in New Jersey. The sightings then spread to the entire East Coast of the USA. The phenomenon lasted for over three months in total.
