The Geneva International Motor Show, a spectacular display of fascinating vehicles and exciting technologies, is scheduled to open its doors to the public from March 5 – 15, 2015.
Yesterday, only 3 days before the public opening, journalists gathered for the final election and presentation of the prestigious “Car of the Year 2015” award. On Tuesday and Wednesday, more than 10,000 media representatives from all over the world will have a preview of the new models being presented by the attending manufacturers.
Some 130 new models and concept cars will be presented to more than 700,000 visitors and will occupy every square metre of space in the exhibition halls of Palexpo. This year some 900 vehicles will be on exhibit, nearly a hundred of which already conform to the strict European Union emission norms that will come into effect in 2021.
Car of the Year Award
The winner “Car of the Year” award 2015 is traditionally the first announcement made at the Geneva International Motor Show. The deciding vote was counted live in the presence of the international press representatives in Geneva this afternoon. 58 car journalists from 22 European countries submitted their votes and selected Volkswagen Passat as the winner of the “Car of the Year” award 2015. VW Passat beat six competitors in intense test drives and convinced the judging panel in the final selection for the world’s most renowned and sought after automotive award. The candidates that made it into the final selection included BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, Citroën C4 Cactus, Ford Mondeo, Mercedes-Benz C Class, Nissan Qashqai, Renault Twingo and Volkswagen Passat.
Takis Trakouselis from CAR+SPEED magazine has travelled to Geneva to attend the event and present all the new models and concept cars of 2015.
The cars are divided into two categories: Production models and Prototype models. Click on each photo or car name for more info (in Greek)
