FinMin Varoufakis leaves Brussels early

The negotiations between the Greek side and the country’s creditors that begun yesterday in Brussels were once again interrupted

Newsroom March 10 05:19

The negotiations between the Greek side and the country’s creditors that begun yesterday in Brussels were once again interrupted by the sudden departure of Greek finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis.

Although the Greek Finmin was expected to stay in Brussels until Wednesday, in order to arrange the details for the first round of contacts between the “Institutions” (IMF, ECB and EC) and the Greek government, Varoufakis decided to leave early.

The reason for this sudden departure is that the Finance Minister wanted to attend the meeting of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras with Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD in Paris on Thursday.
