Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that the economic process was back on track for Greece following his multi-partite meeting on the Greek issue following the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday. At the end of the four-hour meeting, Tsipras said that all sides confirmed a willingness to work together so that the difficulties facing Greece can be overcome.
Tsipras said the meeting allowed for a clear and joint interpretation of the February 20 agreement at Eurogroup. He said it is clear that Greece is not obliged by the agreement to implement austerity measures such as the fifth review of the Greek economy and the notorious Hardouvelis e-mail pledging to make further cuts to pensions.
Tsipras pledged that the government would table reform proposals for structural reforms, which it will implement. He said all sides expressed their eagerness to work towards the financing of the Greek economy to be restored as soon as possible.
During the meeting, European Commission president Jean Claude Juncker said he would immediately promote European projects that would work towards calming down the humanitarian crisis in Greece. He added, however, that the amount of the money would be announced by Juncker after the end of the Summit on Friday.
