Donald Trump’s dispute with Europe over Greenland will not prevent the upcoming
US agreements with European countries, according to the US ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Guilfoyle’s statement takes on weighty significance after she has focused on the increasing commitments from Greece and other European countries to buy US liquefied natural gas (LNG), as Axios reports.

The publication notes that our country is fast becoming a key US gateway for LNG to Europe, signing important long-term supply agreements to replace Russian gas and enhance regional energy security for Ukraine, Romania and other countries.

Guilfoyle, speaking at Axios House in Davos as part of the World Economic Forum, said more agreements with European nations should be expected to be announced in early February.

“Any day of the week, if you have the option to work with the United States of America and President Trump, you choose that option over Russia and Vladimir Putin,” he said.

Guilfoyle, in response to a question, dismissed any notion that Trump could threaten to cut off gas supplies in the same way he has threatened tariffs. “I don’t believe for a second that President Trump would ever do that, without a doubt, absolutely not,” he said.

As Axios comments, Guilfoyle said her LNG work – specifically deals measured in BCM, or billion cubic meters – consumes much of her time. “That’s what I do all day. I talk about BCM,” she said.
