Cloudevo, a technology company based in Greece with a focus on artificial intelligence solutions, has delivered the first English-language edition of a Greek news outlet supported largely by automated AI infrastructure. The project is the English edition of Proto Thema, which is aimed at an international audience and uses artificial intelligence throughout the content management and publishing workflow.
The development of the project was funded by the Google Innovation Fund on AI, as part of initiatives supporting the use of artificial intelligence in the media sector.
The English edition uses AI tools for the selection, translation and publication of articles from protothema.gr, based on criteria related to readability and audience interest. The process begins with the extraction of content from the Greek edition, continues with translation using an advanced AI-powered translation tool, and concludes with automated insertion into the English edition’s CMS. At the final stage, all content goes through human review, editing and approval to ensure quality and consistency before publication.
The result is a workflow that uses technology to speed up the process without removing the role of editorial oversight. Content production and publication become faster, allowing for more timely updates and better organisation of day-to-day newsroom operations.
The implementation of the English edition was carried out by Cloudevo, which designed and developed the required technological infrastructure. The platform supports content management with a focus on accuracy, speed and stable operation, meeting the needs of a modern news organisation.
Overall, the English edition of Proto Thema expands international access to Greek news content and demonstrates how technology can practically support the day-to-day operation of a journalistic organisation.
