The port of Hydra will be transformed into a full cinematic set tomorrow, as the production of the international film starring Brad Pitt moves forward with extensive arrangements in order to shoot crucial scenes at the island’s most central location.
According to information from protothema.gr, all seaside shops will remain closed for an entire day, following an agreement reached between business owners and the production.
Significant sums of money
As local professionals confirm, the company paid substantial amounts as compensation to cover losses from the temporary closure of businesses. The manager of a seaside shop, speaking to protothema.gr, stated that the production “paid a large amount, equivalent to the shop’s daily turnover,” clarifying that similar agreements were made with all the stores along the waterfront.
This resulted in unanimous consent for businesses to temporarily close to accommodate the filming needs.
Demanding scenes
The scenes to be shot are considered among the most demanding of the production, as they include footage with a “flying dolphin” (high-speed hydrofoil), which will approach the port under strictly controlled safety conditions and with the area fully restricted.
Tomorrow is expected to resemble a film set more than a tourist destination, with crews, equipment, and security personnel already flooding the waterfront, marking one of the most impressive moments of filming on the island.
